5 natural ways to beat erectile dysfunction (ED)

Try these tips from the Harvard Medical School for better health and a better sex life.

1. Start walking - According to one Harvard study, just 30 minutes of walking a day was linked with a 41% drop in risk for ED. Other research suggests moderate exercise can restore sexual performance in obese middle-aged men with ED.

2. Eat right - A diet rich in fruit, vegetables, whole grains, and fish - with fewer red and processes meats and refined grains - decreases the likelihood of ED. And check you're getting enough vitamin B12. A chronic deficiency can contribute to ED.

3. Watch your vascular health - High blood pressure, cholesterol, and blood sugar can damage arteries in the heart, in the brain and those leading to the penis.

4. Slim down - A trim waistline is very good defence against ED - a man with a 106.5cm waist or greater is 50% more likely to have ED than one with  a 81cm waist. Obesity raises the risks  for vascular disease and diabetes - two major risk factors for ED. Excess fat can  also interfere with several key hormones.

5. Tighten your pelvic floor - A strong pelvic floor enhances rigidity during erections and keeps blood from leaving the penis by pressing on a key vein.
